It’s pretty easy to get sucked away in work and life, our noses always to the grindstone. Especially as an entrepreneur. Culture has dictated the message that our self-worth is in our productivity and what we can accomplish. We go to sleep tired, and wake up tired. And it just keeps repeating itself, especially during this pandemic.
But let me ask you a question: What if today were special? Here’s a few tips you can try to make today special, even if life feels ordinary.
Determine Your One Thing
Instead of starting out your day with a giant to-do list, what is the one thing (or two to three) that you could start your day off with that would make it an instant win? Obviously there are other tasks on your list. But these should be the ones you prioritize and focus on. They’re the ones that move the needle for the month, the year, or for your mission. Or sometimes they just feel fantastic.
Keep this list front and center, and refer back to it at the end of the day.
End of Day Review
It can be powerful to take even 15 minutes at the end of your day to determine how your day went. What was good? Celebrate that! Here’s some ideas on what to review:
- How did I do with my “win” list? Celebrate any progress at all.
- How did I do with my practices or habits today? Any practice at all is cause for a celebration.
- Where did I see the divine today? Whether you’re spiritual, religious, or not at all, it’s important to list the things that we deem sublimely beautiful. This could be in nature, in the people around you, or even in a quiet moment.
This only has to be a few moments, and you can even set a reminder (refer to my other blog on creating systems/ processes- titled “Is Your Business Working For You?”)
Create an Ending Ritual for Tasks
You don’t have to wait until the end of the day to celebrate! You can celebrate a win after any completed task, no matter what it is or when you complete it. It’s pretty simple: When you’re done with a task, don’t move on to the next one right away. Pause for a second, and reflect on what you just did. Celebrate it. What was enjoyable about the process you just completed? What are you grateful for?
Celebrating life only takes a second. Mindfulness adds a quality of life that is important in energizing you emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. Having solid ground in these areas is what will allow you to reach the next level in your life and business. Have questions or thoughts? Send me an email at dedee@fittoprofit.com.
